Why nanoparticles are less concerned from public?

Researchers from North Carolina State University study risk perception of nanoparticles compare with other risks associated to Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and found that people generally think ultraviolet rays exposure from sunlight more operating risk to the health of people more than nanoparticles. This study compared the perceptions of respondents about 23 different types of risks, including exposure to nanoparticles. The researchers found that the public perception of risk from nanoparticles is relatively low.
"For example there are about 19 different health risks such as drink Alcohol beverage, smoking and use of nuclear energy" Dr. Andrew Binder assistant professor of communication from North Carolina State University as the co- author who participated in this article describes a study that "The exposure to nanoparticles are seen as a risk more than using a mobile phone, blood transfusion, commercial air travel and medical X-rays only."
In fact, 60 percent of respondents felt that there is no risk associated with nanoparticles to health or there are only health risks slightly. In this study, the researchers found that 307 respondents around US think that the nanoparticles are less risky compared to the risk to public health from other issues such as obesity, smoking, using mobile phones and nuclear power. Dr. David Berube, a professor of communications from the University of North Carolina State who is main author of the articles said. "While it remains unclear whether nanoparticles are safe, the general public will not worry about it."
For me, this issue was also discovered in my publication that as long as the authorized agency for health, particularly government and the broadcasting media are not able to communicate security issues between the nanoparticles (in products) and health of the public to clear up public understanding. The public will not see the risks and have no interest in or perpare to protect themselves from this kind of risk. The issue of health risks will be limited, and circulate among scholars who have knowledge only.
